LUCA LUCA Spring 2010-fashion show

George's new suit

I hope this isn't too off topic or disruptive of the forum. If it is please delete it. Well here goes.

This is a joke my dad told me years ago, so some of you may have heard it. Normally, I go through some body motions while telling this joke so you will just have to visualize the characters.

Georges New Suit.

George had a new suit made and he was wearing it while walking down the street when he ran into Tom. Tom said "That is a beautiful suit George, but there seems to be a thread loose no your shoulder".

George went back to the tailor and explained the problem. The tailor said, "No problem
George, just rub it a little with your chin as you walk". And so George began walking down the street, rubbing his chin on his shoulder. He runs into Louis who says "That is a beautiful suit George, but you seem to have a thread loose on your elbow". Upset, George returned to the tailor, who told him to just rub his elbow on the side of his body to wear away the loose thread.

Again, walking down the street, rubbing his shoulder with his head and his side with his elbow, he bumps into Michael who says. "That is a fabulous suit George, but you seem to have a loose thread on your knee cap". Upset, George went immediately back to the tailor who offered the same advice, "just rub your knee against your other knee while you walk".

Thereupon, George started out again and was walking down the street rubbing his chin on his shoulder, his elbow on his side and his knees together, when a car pulled up at a light next to him. Inside were two doctors. One doctor said "I wonder what is ailing that poor chap?" To which the other doctor replied "I don't know, but that sure is a beautiful suit".

shoe polish method

Are they a matt or shiny in colour? I would spray them with furniture polish, Pledge or Mr Sheen and then wipe them over with a dry cloth. This will remove any excess black polish you have on them and may on its own give the required result.

Eventually, however you will need to use some black polish. If they are matt I'd use black polish from a tin, something like Kiwi. Apply and remove with brushes and finish off with a cloth.

If shiny use Clarks Shoe Magic but instead of using the applicator put the polish on a rag and apply sparingly around the shoe. Let them dry for about 30 mins and then polish the shoe with a cleanish cotton rag. If you don't let them dry you may get polish on your trousers but will be ok if you let the polish dry.
If the leather is cracked, I would condition well before polishing.

Love wrist

I just bought myself my first automatic watch for christmas this year. What's even more exciting about it is it has a retrograde seconds hand, which is my favorite complication by far. Here's the watch:

Daniel JeanRichard is a brand that was revived under Girard Perregaux. In 2006, they changed their brand name to just JeanRichard. I'm really enjoying this watch and find myself often watching the seconds hand just to see it jump back across. The watch also has a sapphire case back which allows you to see the movement and sometimes if I'm waiting around I take the watch off and watch the movement "spin". It's fascinating that someone figured out how to fit all those small parts together to make something so beautiful.

My first watch that I received for my 18th birthday couple years ago was this Tissot Classic Prince:

I really love the case design and the curve in the said case. This design caused it to be dubbed "the banana watch" in the 20s. It's 49mm long so it's not for everyone but I have pretty big wrists and I get compliments on it quite a lot. It's a quartz movement, however I still love it, the blued hands on the cream back ground look fantastic, the "exploding" numbers and because of the curve in the case you can look at the hands from a "side" view if you get eye level with the crystal which isn't something you can do with many watches.

As you can see my taste in watches is not exactly traditional. However, my next watch(whenever that will be) is going to be round faced I think. I would love something very clean face, like the Sinn 1746 Klassik but with a power reserve. Although I may skip that last requirement just because I love the 1746 so much. We'll see in a couple of years.

So this thread is for posting about what's on your wrist and what's in your possible watch collection. Tell us why you love your pieces. Pictures are highly encouraged. Lets keep it all inclusive so everyone is welcome here from Breguet, Patek, Vacheron to Tissot, Hamilton, Fossil, Nixon etc.
